Volumetric Efficiency of a Rotary Engine Explained
According to Auto-Ware.com, volumetric efficiency is:
…used to describe the amount of fuel/air in the cylinder in relation to regular atmospheric air. If the cylinder is filled with fuel/air at atmospheric pressure, then the engine is said to have 100% volumetric efficiency. On the other hand, super chargers and turbo chargers increase the pressure entering the cylinder, giving the engine a volumetric efficiency greater than 100%. However, if the cylinder is pulling in a vacuum, then the engine has less than 100% volumetric efficiency. Normally aspirated engines typically run anywhere between 80% and 100% VE. So now, when you read that a certain manifold and cam combination tested out to have a 95% VE, you will know that the higher the number, Bosch SRS45T62EU the more power the engine can produce.
Characteristics of a rotary engine compared to a 4 stroke piston engine:
A rotary engine’s rotor completes one stroke for every 270є of crank rotation:
- Intake 270є of crank rotation.
- Compression 540є of crank rotation.
- Combustion 810є of crank rotation.
- Exhaust 1080є of crank rotation.
In other words, it takes a rotary engine 1080є of crankshaft rotation to complete an intake, compression, combustion & exhaust cycle. Or 3 crankshaft rotations per cycle.
A piston completes one stroke every 180є of crank rotation:
- Intake 180є of crank rotation.
- Compression 360є of crank rotation.
- Combustion 540є of crank rotation.
- Exhaust 720є of crank rotation.
A piston engine requires 720є of crankshaft rotation to complete a cycle. In other words, 2 complete revolutions of the crankshaft.
A rotor rotates @ 1/3 of the rate of the crankshaft. In other words, for every 1 revolution of a rotor, the crankshaft has done 3 revolutions. For example when the tachometer on a vehicle indicates 9000rpms, one rotor is turning at 3000rpms.
On two rotor engines, the front & rear rotors are offset 180є from each other. A rotation of 360є of the crankshaft will bring the 2 rotors through the combustion stroke. Since each combustion chamber is -in the case of a 13B- 654cc, every 360є of crankshaft rotation will displace a total of 1308cc.
In order to interpolate the cycles and volume displaced by a rotary engine vs. a 4 piston engine, we can use the following logic:
- A piston engine takes 720є of crank rotation to complete a cycle.
- In a rotary engine, 720є will produce 4 combustion strokes:
- 360є of crank rotation => 2 combustion strokes.
- 720є = 360є x 2
- 720є of crank rotation => 4 combustion strokes.
- 4 strokes = 654cc x 4
- 4 strokes = 2616cc
For simplicity reasons, we can stipulate that a 1.3L, two rotor rotary engine is similar to a 2.6L 4 piston, 4 stroke piston Pioneer PDP-607CMX engine. It may not be academically correct, but it is a relatively simple way of visualizi

The Unity of Alcoholics Anonymous
Throughout my journey of recovery in Alcoholics Anonymous, miracles have come to me in abundance. The promises have astoundingly materialized in every element of my daily life and the rewards of sobriety are beyond what my imagination could have ever visualized or dreamed of. I was miraculously given a chance in my life to live with a genuine passion for my career, my family, my friends, and humanity as a whole. Recovery has provided me the opportunity to discover my true self, which was hidden by alcoholism, and bask in the bliss and enlightenment of each present moment that I am given. I can give and not expect anything in return, I can accept other human beings for who they are, I can love and be loved, and most importantly, I don’t have TURBO DH1080S/90F HE T1 the need to pick up a drink to face any challenges that the universe телефон нокия places along my daily passage in life. Alcoholics Anonymous has given me a life abundantly filled with honesty, love, acceptance, and passion.

The preceding lyrics were written by singer/songwriter Jonathan Foreman and performed by his band Switchfoot. I’ve heard hundreds of songs over the years with relatable lyrics, but this one really caught my ear as if it had been written by me, about me. With a sense of regret and dreams unfulfilled, this song hit a tender spot for me; like a three-minute recap of my life had been set to music.
I just turned 36-years-old last summer (shout-out to all my fellow Cancerians). While I have developed feelings of dread associated with growing older, I don’t view birthdays with the usual negativity most people experience merely because they are aging and getting one step closer to the grave. I don’t mind getting older, as I think one is only as old as he or she feels. I eat (generally) well and exercise with great frequency and have been rewarded with being in the best shape of my life. Though I may feel like I’m 26, I cannot ignore the fact that I am actually ten years older than that and have yet to do anything meaningful with my life. Whether it’s logical or not, I painstakingly measure the passing years based on my accomplishments, or lack there of.
Eighteen years ago when I graduated from high school and embarked on my college tenure, I never would have imagined that my life would be where it stands today. I figured by my mid-30s I would be living the picture-perfect life with a successful career, residing in a nice house with my beautiful wife and adoring children (insert white picket fence and frolicking pets, if you like). Instead, I am still trying to find my niche in the economic world (after a series of McJobs and a layoff); I’m relegated to living in apartments; I have been unable to sustain a serious relationship longer than six months (can it re
